About Barnet
Barnet is one of London's most substantial boroughs: second in population and fourth in area.
It includes densely populated urban communities in the south, large stretches of suburbia, and semi-rural areas on the edge of greenbelt in the north.

Our varied borough holds many opportunities for clean energy projects, especially rooftop solar installations.

Schools, leisure centres and other community buildings can benefit from:

-
Reduced energy costs
-
Increased energy independence
-
Significant carbon savings

How will Community Energy work in Barnet?
Using our local knowledge and working with Barnet Council where appropriate, we identify good locations for renewable energy projects in the borough. We run a feasibility study to ensure the project will be viable.

Once a location is identified and all parties are in support, we open a share offer to allow people to invest in the project. Anyone can invest. Alongside the share offer, grant funding allows us to reach our financial targets.
With funding in place, the project is installed. We take care of all installation, maintenance and repair.
The building receives energy at a discounted rate, saving money on their energy bills.

We sell any surplus electricity back to the national grid, generating a profit that is used to pay our investors a dividend, and to use in the local community.
